Huawei will be back to take this spot. To use an analogy, whole semiconductors operate on the principles of the CRT monitor when LED monitors are just around the corner. Sure ASML has mastered CRT technology and Chinese semi con companies are under sanctions. But when LED monitors come around, everyone will be at the same starting point and China will take the lead in R&D and deployment because of its larger market.

I had pretty much my same thought, but to be honest Huawei got in trouble because they deal with the communication infrastructure, it's probably all fine and dandy as long as you just build toys for the overgrown menchildren of the Western world. Having a friendly communication infrastructure on the other hand is crucial if the US wants to keep spying their allies, like they did with Angela Merkel, while making it difficult for others to do the same.
