I suspect many people, myself included, will be seeing that date in a different light: the date by which to be transitioned over to Linux and away from this mess.

Ideally, MS should be legally required to support W10 forever. After all, they sold it as the last version of Windows. It only seems right they're held accountable for their own words.

by the looks of the recent "leaks" it clearly won't, it will be a lot worse. maybe candy crush and the other garbage will go away at least

Phew. Thank god this is over. And look, we even learned something along the way:
(1) you can't outsource quality to India,
(2) and you can't put a team of 6 Mac users in charge of Windows UI.
