Very surprised that a patent was needed for this fashion change. Capacitive buttons were not yet patented?

Samsung has patented a button-less foldable smartphone, and one that looks an awful lot like the leaked Galaxy Z Fold3. The patent suggests that Samsung will employ some trickery to incorporate different sized capacitive buttons, too.
