Another garbage sony mobile phone

Lol, I see a lot of people getting super excited about this so-called "garbage". Only Chinese brand fanboys like you will only say such thing.

You guys, to make it simple, if iphone or samsung is a ferrari then sony is a lamborghini since it also has a bravia engine which others dont. Thats the reason for its price.  ;D

Are you surprised? Chip shortage + Sony brand tax.

Ironically, it is cheaper to buy an iPhone unless you buy the Pro versions. iPhones retain their resale value quite well, unlike Android phones, and especially Sony Xperia phones.

In any case, the hype will mostly die off when the new Xperia phones are finally available. Sony has learnt nothing.
There's a chip shortage...but no shortage of smartphone SoCs. Xperia tax, rather, because Sony cameras, headphones, most TVs except the flagships...seem to have reasonable pricing, within their respective markets. And this still seems shockingly high, even with Xperia tax.

Sony always put the 1 series on par with the Galaxy S Ultra and iPhone Pro Max, so no surprise about the pricing though.
What a weird and risky strategy...is it at all working though

Yeah...it just occurred to me that Sony's still officially selling smartphones in China, probably through a handful of official online distributors...the JP version should have slightly more reasonable pricing, Chinese prices are generally high but this is just insane.

Sony's pricing for the Xperia 1 III has emerged, and it is a lot higher than what the company charged for previous models. While the Xperia 1 launched at CNY 6,299 (~US$973), the Xperia 1 III starts at CNY 8,499 (~US$1,313). The Xperia 1 II currently costs CNY 7,499 (~US$1,159) in China too.
