Taking a closer look into the matter, I believe they're using the reclaimed space from moving the bottom-firing speakers to place a larger battery.

Actually, the Gen 2 is taller than Gen 1 (18.19 mm vs 16.9 mm). It is smaller in every other direction, though.

Thanks, that's definitely logical. It will be interesting to see the insides. Gen 1 X13 didn't seem like it had any leftover room for a larger battery, and the case size didn't change much in this generation. Gen 1 battery was closer to 45wh than to 50+, which is a big difference hence me thinking in this direction.

The way to offer internal batteries in different sizes is to design the machine to be able to house the bigger battery - a smaller one can fit in without problem.

So the X13 is designed to house a 54 Wh battery, with the 41 Wh battery as an cheaper, more lightweight option.

Interesting that there's two battery sizes; anyone got ideas on how they're planning to do that? The difference is considerable, and in such a small body it's unlikely they can fit in additional battery size just by expanding it inside?
These don't have removable batteries so it's not like they can tack on an external module with more cells like in the earlier days.

Tell that to many XPS 13 that took massive falls into concrete at my workplace's building entry (we really should fix that). They all got a massive dent in the bottom corner of the top lid, yet ZERO have sustained any real damage (outside of cosmetics).

We all expected at least one shattered screen or broken hinge. ZERO. Even the touch still works in the 4K models.

I have explained many many times to varies people why ThinkPad always have thick bezels and apparently some people still don't get it.

Any way, ThinkPad will properly never get bezels as thin as that of XPS. Thin bezels are proven to weaken the overall structural integrity of the chassis and ThinkPad has certain durability standards to comply with. Durability is something ThinkPad would properly not compromise in a major fashion because it is one of the main selling points of ThinkPads

As soon as Dell XPS 13, 15 and 17" have potent AMD Ryzen 5800U and 5980HS bundled with RTX 3060 Max-Q, there's no need to buy any ThinkPads.

Macbook pro 16,6" with M1X (the most decent APU) with Linux.
Why? ok that's expensive but it's iGPU is powerful like GTX 1050Ti/GTX 1060 3Gb. AMD/intel iGPU has half performance of M1X (according benchmarks leaked)

Looking very good with the taller screen! Interesting about the two different battery sizes.. Worried about what the human presence this is though. I'd like to be able to opt out but still get the thinkshutter.

About the amd option, where is the source? Isn't it supposed to be ryzen pro?
