Well that's a nice surprise from Samsung.
Either they know about a potentially big problem that they don't want it to explode in their faces, or the PR and marketing team actually managed to convince upper management that extending a phone's life can actually create brand-loyalty.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge have received a new update, over four-and-a-half years since their release in March 2016. The update brings the September 2020 security patch to the two devices, along with bug fixes, performance optimisations and stability improvements.
