I think they hit gold with the z830 utltrabook (lightest + all the ports including ethernet), all they had to do was polish it. Like a better screen.

Instead, they kept putting in crappy screens and even started putting in old processors in latest laptops.

Effectively, their ruined their chances. Which is sad.

Not the first portable - As I recall it was Data General and the 'Data General One' 1984, but certainly a early innovator.

It's sad indeed. If we had to look back 10 years ago, I'd blame Toshiba for their own mistakes: selling laptops that nobody wants.

Selling xheap plastic rubbish home/smb laptops while Asus offered better material with almost the same price. Overpriced business laptops without any competitive aspects.

They deserve it. Fujitsu will follow if they do the same mistakes.

Toshiba has exited the laptop business following the sale of its remaining stake in its laptop business to Sharp. Sharp, a Foxconn-owned company, will continue selling laptops under the Dynabook brand.
