I sometimes wonder where notebookcheck.com get their pricing and availability.
Not available at all in Ireland or Italy from Lenovo.
Also, good luck trying to get a US / EU international Keyboard on this one (or any other laptop) anywhere in the EU.
Anyone can give some suggestion on where to get a US / EU int. Keyboard laptops? I live in Italy, but any reputable EU (euro area) store would be OK.
Dell Italy's web store is a no-go. There is no sale support whatsoever, no chat, no phone, nada!! Shameful for such a large company.
Thanks in advance for any suggestion!!

The solution I´ve found for the fan´s noise is disabling the discrete graphic card from the BIOS.
In the BIOS go to configuration tab, now under graphics Device press enter, select device as UMA only. This will disable NIVIDIA graphics driver and switch to integrated graphics only.

Of course for gaming the graphic card should be turn back on.

The fan noice can be mitigated by lovering the allowed max cpu percentage in advanced power options under power profiles, to 97% or less. This stopps the CPU from entering Turbo Boost mode. Also change cooling principle from active to passive.

Choose the whisper mode by cycling the Fn + Q combination.

I updated to the latest BIOS, not sure if it helped but the advanced power profiles sure did. The fan only engages once in a while at a low setting. A totally quiet computer most of the time, while browsing the web and watching the tube.
I was about to return the computer, but I'm actually considering keeping it.
If only there was a way to allow the cores to run a few degrees hotter this wouldn't be much of an issue.

I don't get it. The sound signature is consistently lower in the highs than, for example, of the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme. Then why should the noise be high-pitched?

Can i replace the fan so that the annoying noise goes away?

I own 14 inch for a week now. There is very annoying thing going on with the space key. It works only on center area but try to push it with thumbs while fast typing on 1-2 cm from the edge (both sides) and mechanism is not fully pressed, key will not engage -  like the mechanism is mounted on the center and there is no support on the full lenght of the key. Did somebody observe something like this?

However, we do need to point out one significant weakness: While Lenovo uses one of the quietest cooling systems in comparison, this measurable positive effect is undone by a subjectively very unpleasant high-frequency fan noise.

Yes!! Couldn't agree more! I returned mine exactly and only for this reason. It's a real shame, because otherwise the laptop was perfect for my needs. In fact, sometimes I now think, maybe I was being oversensitive, but no, it was driving me crazy. Really hope they fix this on their next model...

Yeah, I think it is quite extraordinary that this notebook scored better than Asus Zenboox UX534 with 2 screens. Adding to that fact that Asus costs like 300-500 $ more is even more astonishing.
Seems like a killer laptop with such price and 1650!

I actually just bought one of these but sending back as mine had extreme light bleed from the top right and the fans are so damn annoying. Exceptionally quiet while gaming but erratic and constantly fluctuating when even just having a single tab open in a browser.

Such a shame as, if not for those, I would say this is the best all rounder for the price out there. It's crazy how quiet and cool this thing is when gaming and the battery life is great for the specs.

"Those who love movies should be pleased by about 14.5 hours of video pleasures at reduced brightness".
By video pleasures, do you mean movies in VLC player or pornhub? How did you last 14.5 hours btw? You're a stud.

QuoteDouble performance (which is arguable at best) sounds like a lot if not for the god awfull performance of the igpu anyway (intel, vega is a bit different)

double the vega igpu performance. if we count minimums and some multitasking-a real world scenario. i have vega 8 now in my hp17-ca.

QuoteI would prefer to spend the money on thunderbolt (egpu box will be expensive but the gpu for it could be something older and/or 2nd hand)

egpu is the most useless computer device in history. a nonsense. it's pretty hard for me to imagine a worthy scenario for this thing. pure marketing. because why should i use egpu with the small laptop screen and a keyboard with bad ergonomics? isnt egpu+emonitor+ekeyboard a better choice? so who prevents you from more comfortable gaming with all these devices packed into desktop?

Quotesomething that will be garbage now and need to be replaced very soon anyway

replaced? people usually buy gpus that are enough for them. if it's not enough, buy a faster one. these are called market segments. you make it sound like everyone needs top-end graphics cards. from this position sure the faster the better but obviosly im not talked about that. :(
dota and world of warcraft lasts for decades, remind you. and average laptop 2 times less.

a waste of silicon, money and pcie lanes

i think mx150(250) is the best laptop gpu ever. double the performance from the best igpu for 50usd. must have thing.

I would prefer to spend the money on thunderbolt (egpu box will be expensive but the gpu for it could be something older and/or 2nd hand) and have options down the line instead of getting something that will be garbage now and need to be replaced very soon anyway (I don't buy into the current disposable trend that's going on but YMMV)
