So when you have to do close shots in tight confined spaces, the selfie camera should work for those.  And hold the phone far away for the rear camera, take the pic and then zoom in on the pic and save that edited image.

What I find strange is if I use an APP like CAM Scanner to scan a document it seems to focus better. So as there may be some limitation of the hardware, I also feel the 'Camera' app needs some serious tweaking..
I wish I had my Note 8 back..

I use my camera phone for work in tight places. I do hvac work and ofter I have to take the same picture 7 or 8 times to get a good picture.  My note 8 never had this problem.  samsung should take the phone back from those who depend on this camera.  They stated that the problem would be fixed thats why I purchased this phone. I would have waited for the new Note 20 to come out if I had known it couldn't be fixed.

I was thinking about upgrading.  :o But Damn. Not after hearing about all the problems with the S20 ultra. i'll pass. I will keep my phone for a bit longer. Hoping something spectacular will come out at IFA. Until them I'm good with my Note 10 plus.

My s20 ultra has very severe focusing problems... anything closer then a foot goes really blurr. My s9+ was a much better camera experience than this 1600$ piece of junk. I could tear this phone apart... I know samsung has its fans, I "was" one. If your thinking of buying an ultra just because it has top specs, don't... not worth it. I ended up buying a ROG Phone 2 and the supernatural wind that came out of that box and blew my hair back when I opened it probably ruined other phones for me. Skip the samsung this year people if ur not already stuck in a contract... Go ROG. They nailed overall functionality. Except u can't take a selfie under water, for those that care..

Or you can simply use so called digital zoom which does the same thing without having to touch the photo. I can't imagine photographing A4 from 10 cm away. It must be for something like ID cards.

10 cm as a minimum focus distance is quite reasonable for a rather big sensor. With the high pixel count, you can always reframe the photo...
And for document scanning, it is far enough. I don't understand the problem.

100 mm focal length? Are we talking about a DSLR or a phone? :D The property you're looking for is called minimum focus distance. Nothing special about it. Hopefully everybody buying a camera/ objective knows to check it. And yes, if it has a 10 cm MFD, there is nothing you can do about it aside from changing the module (and making the phone thicker).
