The lack of the Google Mobile Services is not so dramatic as it seems from the recent reviews: almost all the google owned applications with a little of experience with android (or emui) phones can be downloaded and installed safely from the apks without rooting the phone from other sources different than google play store: for example aptoide, amazon or  baidu play store. After installation the most used apps like whatsapp, skype, viber, fb, messenger, instagram, twitter, google chrome, google translate, firefox, and google maps, too with the navigator mode work fine and fast. However in google maps it is not possible to login to google and therefore it is not possible to download the maps for an offline mode. Likewise youtube, gmail and google search which require identification with the GMS cannot used in the same way we were used in old phones with google pre-installed. However a login to this apps is possible  embedded in any kind of browser without any appreciable loss of performance. The LEICA camera is exceptional and able to film in incredible slow motion mode. What is annoying it the lack of an automatic backup of contacts and whatsapp contacts and photos when passing from the old phone with google apps pre-installed to any mate 30 series phone and a manual backup and restore is needed with a pc. In summary by buying this phone you can contribute to stop the dominant position of google and improve the development of the 5G system, from which everybody can make profit of.

I would say that a tendency to overexpose is entirely firmware. A meter is among the basic of the basics, rather they may have underestimated the brightness at which people tend to set their screens (or correctly estimated that their screens perform somewhat inadequately under sunlight) thereby deciding that a slight overexposure is subjectively beneficial to users, OTOH the reduced UWA FoV due to the enlarged sensor is a real issue, you can't compensate for that except with a panorama, which beats the point of having a UWA.

One of Huawei's primary aims with the Mate 30 Pro is to revolutionise videography among smartphones. While the largest camera sensor in any smartphone may help the Mate 30 Pro achieve this, Huawei's latest flagship may not be the best choice for most people. We are not even talking about the absence of Google Play Services, either.
