Updated my LG V30+ ThinQ to Android 9.0 Pie (AUS) version from LG official firmware site over the weekend and I can tell you now. The software / features are totally rubbish  >:(.. On top of that my phone feels sluggish now .. Previous android version 8.0 Orea was soo flawless and smooth and responsive, and also very good on battery (up to 10hrs SOT) with heavy use  8) ;D

I will list the new features I've experimented with thus far and also the issues that have occurred since updating to Android 9 Pie.

1. Notifications REMAIN in notification panel even AFTER replying to texts and messenger messages from apps such as WhatsApp, you have to swipe them to remove the notifications. Which can really be annoying and cause display crowding. I think the task/service is called "persist.notifications" or something as such.

2. Random intermittent Wi-Fi drop outs and unresponsive and hangs.

3. random mobile data connection disconnecting and doing random "network jumps" 4g to H to 4g+ etc etc.

Oreo did not have ANY of these bugsm/issues at all. Not once!

4. Apps don't load as fast as they did on Oreo 8.0..

And now you have a lot LESS customization options. Not to mention most customisation options are basic and vague..

Overall experience.. I will be reverting back to Oreo ASAP and i won't be upgrading to Android 9 Pie again any time soon.. Anyone dumb enough to upgrade from Oreo to Pie on the LG V30+ ThinQ at this time would literally be like as if you're putting bad oil and bad fuel in a brand new fully worked drag car with at least 2 cylinders misfiring as well.

Your phone, your choice, don't say you weren't warned.. Stay on OREO until Android 9 is more stable & a lot less buggy..9

Welp, looks like it's a choice between a hindered feature set (wink wink jack-fearing companies :P) and a hindered software update set these days... if of course we leave the G8 battery fiasco behind xD
(got an LG Leon which had a good 3 1/2 years of life squezzed out of it... well it was at Jan 2017 security I think but still received its last minor update in fall 2018 :D and it still works...)

I got the update in early Aug. It's been running flawlessly ever since. That is no worse than with the previous iteration of android. Bluetooth still suffers from intermitent loss of sound that isn't solved by changing the avrcp version. Rebooting solves it though. Maybe a bug related with having more than one device connected to it. Otherwise perfectly fine. :) Will it have androis 10? Go figure!

Gave my LG G6 to a friend because I'm 99% it'll never get another update. Phones that stop receiving updates might as well be tossed which is a real shame. The hardware still worked just fine. Seems like a real waste.

Bought an iPhone XR recently, which I'm sure will get software updates for ~5 years or so given Apple's great track record for supporting "older" devices. Goodbye LG.

23 August 2019:
LG G6 and V30 came out both within six months of each other in 2017, Oreo (8.0) running on my LG G6 is smooth as butter with the security patch: 1 May 2019. I'm happy with it's performance and the battery life.

Would love to get Android 9.0 for it, as long as it will be as smooth and as stable as 8.0, don't mind waiting for it even until Christmas, bug 9.0 is a must for a 2 year old flagship...

I'll wait with no frustration

Its a good thing LG doesnt push failed software. In a month there will be the right version but i dont care. Am going to use this phone for about 5 years anyway.

I find this article to be true and contrary to a review I left for a LG V7 Thinq left on Best Buy website. 1 Star
Bought the phone, received the phone Aug 2019 and it was on July 2018 and the phone was also on Oreo as well as Android Security Patch July 2018, (yes that's 2018).
After trying to update the phone I was presented with the error message that the Update server was unavailable.  My review of the phone outlined this information and LG's timely response was the following:

"Hello, we appreciate your desire to obtain the latest software updates. All software updates must go through approval processes and are then issued by the carrier you are connected to. If a device is set to receive an update, it will be scheduled by the carrier once they are done with testing and approval. If you need any support, please feel free to give us a ring at 1-800-793-8896 or you can contact us on Twitter at @LGUSSupport or on Facebook at @LGUSSupport."

Yep, still on 8,Oreo here in Canada via the LG v30 H933. This is definitelyy LAST phoned ever from LG. So ticked that they keep releasing 2 or 3 flagship a year but can't keep up with promise updates on older models. First we were told Q1, that was pushed to Q2, now we after being told July, then August, as other phones are Getting betas of Q, no sign of LG v30 ever getting P and we are entering Q4 with the official release of Q coming next month and LG still can't get their crap together.  >:(

damn lg. yea this is my last lg phone. gonna buy pixel 4 xl without hesitation.

Still no pie update for lg v30 h930ds india variant. Egarly waiting for the update. Hope lg resolves following issues

White balance is not true accurate which produces very bad images epecially on portraits.

Still stuck on 8.0 on the H933 in Canada. I love LG's phones, but this is getting ridiculous. This may be my last.
