I just find the size and weight of this laptop is just awesome. It's great to travel with it, great to have a decent gpu (mine is the GTX 1050 Ti MaxQ version) in it and the cpu is alright for it's consumption. Too bad they didn't put a Thunderbolt 3 in it. I do get a very acceptable 7 to 9 hours of battery life out of it. I don't understand the negative comments about the keyboard, I find it very crisp and a joy to type on it. If I had to chose only one laptop, it would be this one, but I need several!

What are the people above me talking about? I am typing this review on the exact laptop (MSI PS63 Modern). And lemme tell ya, the screen is awesome. I usually keep the brightness at 40-50% and its still very bright and moreover, like the person just above me mentioned, who tf uses a laptop in fkin sunlight??? For anything other than using this at 12 noon on a rooftop on a bright sunny day, the screen holds up pretty well and has good color accuracy.


About the performance, its really good(Just, don't use sports mode that often. There are no power limits, so thermals shoot up to 95C no matter the ambient temperature or cooling). I've undervolted the cpu by about 100mv and thermals are much better. Overall, the laptop feels super snappy.


Build quality and form factor are amazing. This laptop is surprisingly small (almost like a 14 inch laptop). Trackpad and keyboard feel responsive and easy to use. I personally did not miss the numpad. Keyboard feels especially good to type on. I get about 7-8 hours of battery life on comfort mode and 12-14 hours on super battery mode with normal usage.

Overall a solid laptop to get if the price is less than $1100. Super satisfied.

I recently purhchased and am typing this on the exact laptop reviewed.

however.... I bought it refurbished for $850. At that price point this thing becomes much more valuable. Gaming, although not meant to be its primary focus is pretty darn good, just don't get carried away. Battery life is averaging around 7-8 hours, certainly lower than the advertised 16 lol. Temps do get a bit hot but undervolting can fix that.

All the complaints about using it outside... I'm sorry but who tf actually does that? What scenarios have you commonly using a LAPTOP outside. If I'm out and about outside I'd just be using my... you know... phone.

OH! and one more thing, the form factor. Great... so great, I really can't stress that enough, I went from a 15.6" lenovo y50..... and the difference is insane. This thing feels like a 14" laptop in comparison, the bezels are great, it seems even more thin than the reviews suggested, and carrying it is a joy.

So look, if you're still somehow looking at these reviews, and you want it for daily life, gaming, studies, maybe even some editing/rendering than this is a solid choice!

This screen is a failure. Why do I need an ultrabook with which I can't go outside? My old Samsung 730u3e has over 300 cd / m². The competition has 4K and 370-400 cd / m² or amoled screens. Msi Prestige gives some FHD, 60 Hz with brightness that is suitable for the basement.

I have this laptop, and I find the dim display not being a problem at all for an everyday use. It is difficult (but still possible) to use it outdoor but it rarely happen to me.
I usually turn the backlight to 50% and it is enough when I'm in my office.

The screen is just too dim.  Fix that MSI. 

Actually, if MSI would take out the GPU and sell it at something between the Zenbook and Vivobook price, it would probably take a fair bit of business from Asus.    The large trackpad without a useless display, the lack of numpad, the better hinge, the lighter weight, would all make it the more desirable laptop compared to the Asus offerings at 15 inches.

No wonder it has decent battery times with a display that dim.

Laptop is an unusable piece of rubbish for those in the real-world; only reviewers forgive the unforgivable - it's not their money they are spending.
