Does the heatpipe need to be removed to access the ram slot. I bought an 8gb version of this laptop so I would like to know. Also can you give me the make and model of the ram so I know what to buy when upgrading in the future.
ram slots are just under a metal cover not hard to remove....just use any standard ddr4 sodimm and you are fine.... try to get speed as close to 2666 as you can but even 2133 is fine but just slightly slower....
laptop has both nvme and 2.5" drive slot...
does anyone find the Y light in the back of the lid annoying? you can't turn it off.... it lights up a dark room and also waste battery..... what kind of genius designed that lid???
I am test driving both this and the dell G5, both with similar cpu and gpu. the dell lasts about 1.5 hr more and has usb c with TB3. but significantly bigger size (it's basically a 15in lcd inside a 17 in size laptop) and weight.
the y7000 is smaller and a little lighter but significantly shorter battery life...also the stupid Y light in the back.... the usb type c on the Y7000 does actually output 4K 60hz even if it's not TB3.... I couldn't get the non MaxQ 1060 on the Y7000 to run any faster than the G5 MaxQ ver, so that's disappointing....
