Interesting, I suppose if anybody's in the position to command a transition of all these smartphone manufacturers from Android onto a new system, it's Google.

Android is the most successful smartphone OS of the world. Despite this, Google did not mention the brand name during their recent hardware event. This sounds strange, but it might be part of a larger plean to eventually drop Android altogether.
