Which one performs better with multiple monitors? For programming use with multiple IDE's, DB's, and VM's running at the same time.

I'm very interested on how the P1 performs under heavy load, i.e. how well the cooling system performs, when and how much it throttles and what the fan noise would be like

I wonder the difference between a glossy UHD display X1E with an anti-glare screen protector and a matte FHD display X1E. I have lights in my office on my head, I keep noticing them in my Surface Pro screen. I really like high-resolution display but I don't want to see these annoying lights. Is using an anti-glare screen protector on that UHD display a good solution?

i'm also interested in the heat management and fan noise.

A close second is the battery life which is quite a disappointing aspect of the UHD sku.

I'm interested in it's heat management.

  • Does it throttle?
  • How loud are the fans?
  • How quickly do they kick in?
I upvote this one. Also would like to know how it performs under heavy load for longer time (like workstation does) and how it compares on this topic to dell precision 5530

I would like to see how the 2176m Xeon performs in P1 and how much it can be undervolted. Is there really a benefit compared to 8750h. Soon I can order one of the 2 Thinkpads. Except the xeon and ecc, i am not sure why to choose the p1.

I would like to see some tests with two NVMe SSDs if you have a spare. Temps, battery life and stress tests mainly. Interested to see if the X1E can handle 8x PCIe lanes being used on storage simultaneously while fully running dGPU or TB3.

I'd be interested to know if the 15.6 inch screen offers noticeable benefit for office work over the 14 inch screen of standard Thinkpads.

i.e. for Word, Excel, web browsing, is the 15.6 inch screen worth carrying around instead of a T480s/X1 Carbon?

How is the gloss on the 4K? It might be better to go with a 1440P X1 / T480 for many people, thanks to the matte display.

It would be great to see a comparison between the graphics performance between the X1 extreme and the X1 Carbon equipped with Lenovo's Thunderbolt Graphics Dock.

The mixed battery life results and glossy 4K UHD touchscreen on the high-end ThinkPad X1 Extreme have us curious about how the less expensive FHD configuration can perform. Will the FHD SKU be any dimmer or grainier than its pricier option? Will it exhibit less ghosting with faster response times? We'll be reviewing the FHD ThinkPad X1 Extreme - as well as its ThinkPad P1 workstation counterpart - throughout the month of October.
