I've heard that both the touchpad and the keyboard on the X1C6 are a lot nicer than T480s'. That only X1s get a 'premium' glass textured touchpad and the most tactile keystrokes, just as with the screen options. Is this true?

Yes, that was my experience as I purchased an X1C6 and a T480s to compare side-by-side.  The X1 had a better keyboard, better touchpad and far better speakers/audio, but oddly, the display panel was not as bright even though it was the same exact WQHD model.

As visible on our pictures, it has a full size SD-card slot.

Does the T480s have a micro SD card reader (as specified officially by Lenovo) or still have the Full Size SD card reader? (as said by some websites) thanks for a reality check!

2-lanes as i get to know from the other review, though I have some small chances that with mx150 it could be 4-lanes

I'm going to use eGPU for some Machine learning and really have no idea on drop in performance for this task...

Could you please check how many lanes do you have?

And the keyboard - is it German qwertz? Also considering to buy it from campus program...

Hello, and thanks for the comprehensive review. I pre-ordered this device through campus-program, which considered the price point I think is almost a "no-brainer" purchase (the lenovo ideapad 720s similarly spec'd is 1399€).

I would like to know whether the TB3 port is 2X or 4X lanes?

I guess you could eventually run an eGPU on 2XTB3 using an external monitor, although 4XTB3 might be a better way to go (as for the X1-Carbon which cost 100€ on campus-programs).

Thank you very much
Emiliano

Lenovo really needs to redesign the cooling system.  I would have liked to see the non-Max Q version of that GPU in this system.

Why is the same Samsung SSD PM981 (MZVLB512HAJQ-000L7) 25% slower in the X1C6?

Doesn't the X1C6 has have 4 lanes PCIe for the NVMe M.2 SSD?

Hi, I think it's worth mentioning that WWAN cards are white listed, if you say it is "WWAN ready". My old Lenovo card doesn't work.
Thanks for the good reviews.

Far too generous with the display score; nothing special when you take into account colour accuracy and contrast ratio.

Even more versatile thanks to GeForce. We just recently tested the ThinkPad T480s, the latest model in a long series of high-quality 14 inch T series ThinkPads. Now we're testing the same model – this time with a stronger CPU and the GeForce MX150 Max-Q. Can it confirm the strong results of the lower priced T480s? Find out in the following detailed test update. Update: Stress test with BIOS 1.11
