Things I hope Lenovo decides to work on for the next iteration:
-The cooling system. This needs an overhaul. The amount of customer complaints due to thermal throttling/overheating is embarrassing for how expensive this machine is. This is a well documented problem. Add an extra fan between the rear fan and the IO ports. Instead of the the CPU & GPU having to share a heatpipe, that mediator should be a third fan with a more robust heatpipe solution.

-Screen response time. 20-40ms lag is archaically slow. 2-8ms is industry standard, for any type of device in 2018.

-Option for a blu ray player/burner: The option should be available to order a bluray/uhd blu ray drive from the lenovo website. Sure, I could order an LG ultra slim BU40N laptop drive, pop off the front bezel, take the empty bezel off the P71, pop it on to the blu-ray drive, install it, blablabla. Again, this is a premium-priced workstation, the option to just have a blu-ray drive installed should be available when ordering.

-Bigger PSU. The P5000 has a TDP or ~100w. To really match desktop performance, the machine needs to be fed more power. (see: improving system cooling management) We'll see what lenovo decides to do about implementing the Quadro P5200. Maybe that card will be efficient enough to be able to stay at the 230w power supply.

Sticking to a desktop 1080ti & 600w psu for now. Cmon Lenovo. I believe in you guys!

Nice that you review pro laptops even if the result is just not much better- and probably worse for rendering-

I think with increase uses of GPU you should start to include Compute(OpenCL/CUDA) benhemarks.

Quiet and powerful. The ThinkPad P71 is Lenovo's biggest and most powerful mobile workstation. It is a powerful machine, but still pleasantly quiet in many situations. You also get a very good 4K UHD panel.
