Thanks for the trip down memory lane. I had the fortune of purchasing and using the ThinkPad 700, 700C, 720C models for my company. Most people, especially younger users, will not remember or be aware that these notebooks were Microchannel architecture. So clean to upgrade with no cables inside.

I think I ended up using all of those as well as the various 600, 701c, 750X, 770s and the keyboards were always fantastic. These machines were durable as I traveled a great deal and still, today do so, and as such my laptops always take a beating.. Never had a TP die on me which I cannot say the same for my Compaqs, HPs, Dells, and Toshibas.

Great article for such a great product.
