My Dell Xps 9560 bricked last week, 6 weeks after purchase after pressing Dell Update that kept flashing up. Different to other comments, my laptop, once restarted after update, went straight to "no bootable device recognised". I tried a few online options such as changing bios setting from RAID to UEFI. Didn't work. I rang PCWorld, they put me through to Dell Support. They couldn't get it to boot so had to download a new Windows to boot it from usb. This didn't work. Dell said it was no longer recognising the SSD so it was knackered. Whilst on phone, I tried one more time and this time the SSD id showed, so we managed to start reinstalling Windows ..i was furious as had a lot of data science software on there and not sure how to get this back as didn't take note of the license keys. I lost my photos from a holiday of lifetime and a copy of office 16 I bought the day before. During reinstallation, I went to make dinner. My wife shouted that she could smell burning. When I came upstairs, the laptop sounded like a plane taking off as fans going crazy. The plastic cover of my desk was starting to melt. I went to pick up the laptop but it was burning hot. I had to get oven gloves to take it outside as I expected it to explode. It didnt. Dell asked me to restart it in the morning. I did, it booted, but WiFi wasn't working and when troubleshooting was run, it said several devices were corrupted or damaged. I returned it to PCWorld who said it was fixable but I asked for a refund. They demanded on trying to fix it so I let them. When I got it back, they said problem was the fan was deft and that is what caused the issue. Knowhow, who did the fix, had scratched the craps out of it. I was furious, how can a dirty fan be possible on a 6 week old laptop, well looked after, and mangeed to wipe my laptop. After about an hour of arguing PCWorld have offered to replace the product. Beware of Dell Support, they geneiinepy had no idea what to do. Beware PCWorld, they couldn't care less. Beware Knowhow, rehydration do not respect your equipment.
