Hey guys, i have this notebook and i'm looking forward to upgrade the hard drive, i didn't find out the space inside available for this. i wonder if any if you know if there's enough space for a 15mm 2.5 drive like the new 4tb barracuda, ? thanx

A few notes.
Mine is bourght in DK with the ÆØÅ keys - 2409,26 USD. 2017-03-28
SUPER gaming machine - no problems when benchmarking it, and I got similar results to online (non tweaked).
But, when using it for programming, the keys are not well placed. Eg, the enter-key is split in half and an [' , *]-key is in the other half. Im hitting that key half the times, when trying to hit enter.
To the right of space is a [<,>,\]-key, So, when trying to hit alt-gr, then I hit this key - 100% the time. - My { always looks like <7... Annoying.
To use Home and End-keys you have to use FN + Page-UP, Page-Down-keys. - End and Home must be their own keys!

I'll get use to this, but it slows me down atm.

Note - Programming C# - Build time is GREAT, close to instant.

I wish I could fully use my gt73vr 6re. it was freezing and really acting up so I made a copy of win 10. and did a clean install. Also did a full format on d drive. I can use web no prob but with gaming I'm having issues. Lots of black vertical lines then freezes n crashes. I basically started completely over and I also installed most all drivers from msi for it hoping it would fix it. updated the gpu driver. I don't know where to go from here. I really need help.

I just got my GT73 with GTX1070... A nice powerhorse... Or at least... it could be...

During the last weeks I tested a few things and that included monitoring the power draw.

The GT73 seems to be still limited to about 180 Watt - I can clearly tell because power draw of my 230 Watt power supply was (almost) NEVER exceeding about 207 Watt.
Why the heck do we even have a power supply that COULD provide 230 Watt according to it's specs ?

3DMark without power supply plugged in - without charging the battery (it was full enough) (last number is 3D Mark score). Power draw was measured at the socket.

Eco             78W         GPU ~1443Mhz      3909
Comfort       195W      GPU ~1600MHz     13184
Sport           207W      GPU ~1650MHz     13467*
Turbo          207W       GPU ~1700MHz     13978*
Battery was discharged slowly while in Sport and Turbo also power supply was plugged in.
* In the combined test of 3DMark the GT73 seemed to throttle even more and power draw (socket) dropped to 180-190W.

3D Mark while charging (battery drained to below 90%), Turbo Mode:
201W   GPU stuck at about ~1670Mhz   12277

So what story do this numbers tell me:
1. Hybrid Power is still there and it SUCKS... Hybrid Power was designed to cope with spikes in power draw when the notebook required more power than the power supply could provide. Current CPU and GPUs however are very good at optimizing the power draw pretty much to what they are designed for. So there are no spikes any more. Instead your battery is guarnteed to be drained during gaming even with power supply due to this hybrid power (un)feature.
2. Hybrid Power sucks even more because once it sucked your battery to <90% it the GT73 will throttle even more to stay at about 180 Watt power draw while charging the battery. This results in lower performance while battery is charged.
3. The GT73 is still limited to 180 Watt as was the very first GT72  ?!?!? (Power efficiency of the power supply is about 87% - so when my Wattmeter is showing 207 W the GT73 is actually getting/requiring 180 Watt)

All this is completely unnecessary as our power supplies could provide much more power than the GT73 with GTX0170 is actually using. So pretty please: Could someone tell MSI's engineers that MSI's marketing decided to give us 230 Watt power supplies instead of the old 180 Watt power supplies about 2 years ago ?

And then: Also worring was that battery dropped from 100 to 68% within 12 days while the notebook was (completely) powered down while unplugged.

Could someone please confirm my findings ? This is somewhat disappointing...

Firstly, great review - thanks for that!

I've had this laptop for a month now and it's pretty amazing!! There's one thing that's really frustrating me though - I don't know if it's by design or whether I have a faulty laptop, I'm hoping someone else who has the laptop may be able to help?

Basically, the power cable doesn't fit particular tight in the power socket. I find that if I move the laptop relatively small amounts the cable will just pop out. Does anyone else have this problem? I'd expect the cable to possibly "click" in (a bit like iPad USB cable) or something like that to avoid it so easily falling out.

If anyone can share their experiences I'd be really grateful.

G sync cannot be used with Optimus mode. It's possible to use G sync via deactivating Optimus? (on 120 hz/5ms FHD panel)

It is indeed Killer E2400 according to device manager in my 6RF (have only used Wi-Fi so far though).

Regarding my earlier post:
Have still not verified FrankWu's statement that DGPU supports HDMI 2.0 since I don't currently have access to an HDMI 2.0 TV/monitor. Even if it would not work, I have found out that there recently came out some DP-HDMI2.0 converters that seems to work fine, so no huge problem anyway.

Otherwise the computer is absulutely wonderful, especially after I added another 1TB M2 SSD SATA next to the 2 pre-installed PCIe M2's in raid, and swapped the HDD for a 2TB SSD. As info to other speculants I can verify that my Swedish bought 6RF version has a G-Sync capable 4K screen (also a bit unclear info on websites).

Also of interest to buyers might be that after unistalling Dragon center, I installed MSI afterburner to lower the GPU voltage curve on the GTX 1080 from 1.05V to 0.95V to lower GPU waste heat (info on how to use software on Guru3D). At 1.05V the GPU fan was a bit loud at 100% load, but at 0.95V the lower fan noise is completely acceptable in a quiet room. (might have been Dragon Center's OC modes that messed with the voltage in the first place though...)

Is there really Rivet Networking Killer E2400? I found no information about it on the official web-page, probably we deal with brand new Rivet Networking Killer E2500. If there was E2400 controller, I suppose they would mention it in the specifications list, as they did it with previous models equiped with Intel Skylake processor. If you have access to internal parts of the laptop, can you find this chip and model number on it? There must be logo of Killer series and E2500 writing just under it. Thank you.

Optimus is not suitable for gamer, based Loading switched IGPU / DGPU performance, and does not reflect the immediate overloading caused delay distortion (GT73VR design two kinds of stand-alone mode for heavy gamers and normal)

the information in the MSI documents / on the MSI websites are inconsistent concerning the HDMI port. Our german PR-contact thinks it's just 30 Hz @ 4K, but he isn't 100 % sure.

About the display-question (TN or IPS): We are waiting for an answer at the moment.

Just bought a GT73VR 6RF that is still unboxed. Heard at the store that you guys put up this review yesterday and thought I would read it before opening.

However both at MSI's site and my retailers site it's stated "1 x HDMI (4K @ 60hz)" (does not say clearly HDMI 2.0).

Did you actually try connecting to a 4K TV @ 60hz, or did you just base your statement on some other information source?

This is a big deal for me since I'm planning to run a 4K TV @ 60hz 4:4:4 color with it.

I'd like to mention that the screen is actually TN+film, not IPS type, according to poor viewing angles and single domain subpixels, meanwhile IPS panels in most cases are showing good viewing angles and multi domain subpixel structure.
