When we think of a new laptop purchase, first, we have two questions in mind. These two questions make us confused and prevent us from buying a laptop of our choice. The first question comes from price and the second question comes from quality. In the midst of cost and quality, we are not able to decide exactly what we should do. The solution to this problem is found when we do research on the internet. Today I am going to share some pros and cons with you about ASUS ROG G751JY laptop which you can read and probably take the correct decisions in buying a gaming laptop.

Design

The ASUS ROG G751JY laptop is designed for especially young gamers whose design is very beautiful and sexy. The design of the ASUS ROG G751JY laptop is attractive. The center of the laptop has a brushed-aluminum plate which makes the ASUS ROG G751JY even more beautiful. On both sides of the border is a practical proof of the sweet ASUS ROG G751JY which is black, matte, soft-touch finish.

This laptop has lousy sound, with certain frequencies causing some kind of vibration that produces shrill notes.

The screen has poor vieving angles when looking at it diagonally, but the colours and contrast are good.

The worst is that there's a yellow light bleed on parts of the screen.

If I had bought it from new, I would have sent it back, but unfortunately I bought it second hand out of warranty.

The steam big picture thing is another small annoyance.

Performance is good though, and it's not too noisy. So in conclusion, it's not a disaster, but it's NOT good enough for a machine of this price.

Maybe Windows 8 cripples USB 3.0 behavior.
Workaround is regedit - DeviceHackFlags record for each device.:

Very good display, great performance BUT:
1. USB3 All ports are not working (disconnects , slowdowns...) USB2 is OK???
2. Secons SATA port (as also 3-th one in CD bay) are SATA II ONLY my second SSD is working half speed and this came as a surprise in 2015 :(
3. NO M2 slot soldered on my motherboard !!! I cant connect my SM951 and when i called ASUS dealer they told me it is not mentioned in G751JY specs so it not supposed to be there :( :(
4. it's way too heavy but OK i at least knew this upfront ;)

Now I am waiting for P505 and this one is going in service to see what they'll say about USB's :(
All in all that's Biggest disappointment with ASUS (and all my laptops where ASUS last 5 years)

G751JT owner here, I... I can't recommend this laptop. At first I was really stunned how good this laptop is. But after some time:

1.Due to some software (something stupid in bios) or more likely hardware bug, left usbs works only as usb 2.0, if you put anything with usb 3.0 in it, it will immediatelly stop from working.

2. If you wanna be sure that you will have m.2 slot, go with the ssd version. Otherwise, it will be like opening Kinder Surprise.

3. Though the ips display is top notch quality, it will likely develop bleeding on the edges in no time.

4. Software is really crappy. Like Asus doesn't even know what gamers want. I don't need to know how's weather (+ you can't change the location, mine is showing weather for the city that is like 400km away). I want to change my steam button to not start in Big Picture and change my backlight timeout without using registry or hex editor. And if you have Game First III installed on this laptop, you should immediately uninstall it, or you will have problems with internet.

5.These G751 laptops should support G-Sync without any problem, but Greedia and Asus wants more money, so they decided that you will not have it. The only limitation that there is, is some stupid drm made by them. I can understand that they are sold without advertised support for it, but it's just a bad move anyway.

6.Cpu and Gpu are soldered on the motherboard. You can't remove the battery without voiding your warranty.

7. One of the Usbs 3.0 ports on the right side can recharge your phone faster, but guess what? You can only be sure that this thing will work with iPhones, if you have some older non-apple phone there is a chance that you will not be able to use this slot for recharging at all.

8. Asus support, there are many horror stories on ROG Forum. But just to show you how good it is - I called them and 2 of their people didn't know that Asus makes laptops with nonsoldered ram memories under the keyboard.

You should try AC Unity now. With the 347.25 and the latest 1.4.0 update it works like a charm. I also used an OC on the Gtx980M and I have a constant 40+ fps. (Not kidding, check it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KTxMkx4f1ao)

I have to agree with mymcike and especially gamerboy below.  Just look at the official ASUS ROG forum (https://rog.asus.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?198-G771-G751-G551-and-GX550-Gaming-Notebooks), people are suffering from ASUS big time. Honestly, this is terrible how ASUS neglects well known design issues.

I think this is already a piece of crime: selling malfunctioning  tools for 2500USD ... what is going on here? Before you ask, yes I had a G751JY. Will never buy ASUS again.

i bought a ASUS G751JT in november.

The first one Had a USB issue , coulnd use 2.0USB . I changed it for another one.

the 2nd one -> Again many problems : USB 3.0 keep disconecting, cant load a movie or a music on a HDD extern, poor sound Quality had to use a my own speaker, screen froze ( like once in a week ) had to reboot it buy turning it off with the power button.

AND finally now blue screen : "critical process Died" , and my SSD isnt working anymore cant boot windows.

SO i do not advise you to buy this laptop. He has great performance in game , quiet and cool . But that's all , such a poor building quality overall.

u can take a look at forum ect... So many people had exactly the same problems than i had.

Its all the G751 séries ( JM JT JY ).

sorry for my bad english :)

Notebook performance looks good, but looking at ROG forum I've seen that a lot of G750 have problems. I also had a G750JX that after one year was ko for the damaged HDD. Construction was poor, and I don't believe in Asus quality (bad experience also in past). So I0m also an ex-ROG, but now I'll not consider anymore this brand.

I own a G751. It is really a great PC, except quality, support and ASUS customer care. Will tey ever wake up before it is too late? Here is nice summary from the Official ASUS ROG Forum:

The quality control on these machines is garbage, plain and simple. Keyboard keys that are dead, tilted, or not centered/grinding against the chassis, speaker wires that are severed during assembly, speaker software that's borked, screen lightbleed, screens that don't work, trackpads not glued in right, cpu's that get too hot, a Steam button that opens in Big Picture Mode/is useless, USB's on left side that don't work properly, display port that freezes/bluescreens the machine... such a joke. When buying one of these laptops, the chances of you experiencing one or more of these problems is extremely high. I would never ever recommend one of these machines to anyone, and it sucks because they could have been awesome.
I can only agree with you mate. This could have been a super machince, but ASUS is screwing this up big time. They fail on 3 key areas:
1. recent quality as you mentioned. This is full disrespect to the users.
2. poor support. RMA is the only way, they dont care about you at all after the PC is bought.
3. lack of respect at user requests. Just look at the ridicoulus one sided subwoofer thing coupled with bad sound. They wer not able to fix this since years, simply cause they dont care.

ASUS, I am not happy anyomre .... eh ... not like anyone from the company will listen to this.

Sincerely,
Your Ex ROG fan.

The display review does not mention a peculiar yellow tinge in the display which is widely reported in reviews by customers on Amazon.
OR is that problem only specific to the G751JT-CH71 model?
This could effect graphics work!

Are there any problems with displaying the image on THAT IPS panel when playing fast FPS  games  like Ghosting, Input lag, etc?
