Sony hat mit der Verbreitung des neuesten Android-Updates auf die Version 4.4. KitKat angefangen. Zuerst werden die aktuellen Smartphones Xperia Z Ultra, Z1 und Z1 Compact beliefert. Auch Geräte der vorhergehenden Generation sollen das Update erhalten.
