Can you please specify the display panel of this laptop? You mentioned the panel type of its two rivals, but never for the laptop in question.

Thanks

Just ordered the 4900MQ version with the same specs otherwise... can't wait to get it, though I'm surprised to read about the turbo boost issue, is this something that might be temperature driven?

Thanks for the great review btw..

Please do a comparison review of Clevo P375SM with GTX780m SLi so we can weigh out both, thank you! Your reviews are some of the most thorough and informative on the net'.

Overall, this notebook looks great in terms of performance, quality, and aesthetics, but I will say two things:

1) The CPU throttling is ridiculous.  If the CPU throttles that much is makes no sense for the obscenely expensive 4930MX to be offered.  Dell need to sort this, because it's a rip off.

2) To say that sli only offers a 40% increase in fps is a little unrepresentative.  A lot of the game examples used to calculate that figure would be CPU & platform limited due to the ultra high fps.  So, the figure of 40% doesn't show the true value & performance that this 780M sli setup will offer for future games that are more GPU demanding.  Future games will tax the GPUs to a greater extent, and then that 40% figure would increase to something more closer to 80-90%.

Good review though, but an obscenely expensive notebook that desperately needs to have the CPU throttling sorted out, otherwise buyer of the 4930MX are going to be complete mugs!

Superlatives. Alienware does not make any compromises with its latest 18-inch monster. You cannot only select the best mobile quad-core processors in the configurator but also the fastest high-end graphics cards. The manufacturer also combines two of these models for a dual GPU system to increase the performance even further. Continue reading to find out whether the high price is justified.
