1) Reinstalling Windows might help. Before, check task schedules whether they got a shutdown condition.

2) In an old computer, some hardware might be dying. It could be a trivial piece of hardware. E.g., the On/Off switch might have a defective contact (in Windows energy settings, deactivate it while Windows is running, maybe this helps). Or a tiny IC is dead, in which case you must be a hardware technician to find out, otherwise not worth the trouble shooting - buy new instead.

I have Dell e7240, but it shot down every 25-30 minutes. The fan is working well and another paste has been applied to the appropriate place. Please, does anyone have an idea of what is happening to my system

"Dell power manager" lets you set up NOT TO charge battery after pluging in charger to save battery life. Try to instal this aplication and check its setting.

I'm using this laptop been working great and right now don't know what wrong with the battery . The battery is low right now and I did plug it but saying "plugged in not charging" am confuse and can someone help me with solution

I still own this model and it's fantastic. Very light and portable, for office and little development. Perfect solution. Well, mine has FHD with touch, i7, and battery that now lasts only 2hours, so wish it had less wear level as it drops very fast (li-po).
Anyway, that's the best laptop I've ever had.

right now in front of me basic config e7240 i5-4310U, ThinkPad X240 i7-4600U and HP 820 G1 i5-4200U. real-life outdoor unplugged performance the best is on e7240. Strong points go to X240 for the excellent keyboard, to HP- for ruggedness and premium build, to e7250 for overall experience. I get all these machines at equal price but I never thought that Dell can actually make to KEEP their machine! Wee-OU-Double-U! Basic amazing HD screen of e7240 beats the c..p out both Lenovo and HP. And battery life- ....X240 wins yet real-life scenario I only need a tiny-fetter like spare Dell battery to be enough to swap once and I don't notice it in my backpack. Plus it cost absolutely nothing to buy. At £240 total cost to end user, after-market you really can't beat e7240. No way!

very poor battery life, performance. Expensive, comparable configuration - similar in price to Macbook. Much better off with Mac. Much more stable, more memory, more SSD, etc.

There is a full hd display? You could always get that. I personally am very very happy they still make matte models (not like everybody else who seemingly all just loooove glossy - i hate glossy with a passion :-) )

Also, regarding business - i doubt companies are concerned whether the screen is appropriate for their photography loving staff - cheap screens means cheaper notebooks means cost savings, and I'm very ok with that.

The full HD option is always there - now if they had that in matte too - with maybe 95Gamut - well wouldn't that be a sunshine :) oh well, cant have it all. I think it is a great ultrabook afterall - clearly tailored at the business user, but for them, really great!

Looking at current trend it is not so easy for Dell to get the kind of voulume it used to get.  What with the competition and also the shrinking market.  There are a lot of users who opt for business grade pc but some of those has migrated to tablets for their main computer use which is for general communication.  I myself use a Latitude (E6320) even though I mainly just use it to use a browser.  Its their excellent keyboard and toughness of the casing that drew me to them Latitudes in the first place.  Going through two Latitudes I am yet to have any need for Dell support or warranty service but it is good to know that they are there for just in case.  That is a testament for Dell's good build.  The ease of access to internals and removable battery is a bonus in the current crops too.
