I have had this laptop since 2012 and for a laptop that can play games at decent framerates, its &AU700 pricetag was well worth it. Alas  it no longer plays next gen AAA games much older than 2014  with decent FPS.However anything up to the graphics of 2013's Bioshock Infinite will play on medium to High settings just fine. However it has been a consistently good, reliable and flexible computer. Keeps cool unless playing demanding games. ls one of the few gaming laptops to have a 180 % hinge for comfort of viewing.Yes the viewing angles are mediocre, but front on, the picture is totally acceptable. After 3 years it still has 2 hrs charge in the battery and I have only had to replace the ac adapter a few months ago. If you are looking for a cheap & cheerful refurb unit for the kids, this unit often turns up on Ebay for $350. An excellent budget laptop. If it played modern demanding games like Wolfenstein The New Order or the upcoming Dishonored 2 I would not be looking for a new one.

Had my M5 for a year now, it plays game brilliantly on medium settings for a £500 laptop.  I have overclocked the GT640 for benchmarking purposes which gives an average 10% performance increase.

Should last me for at least another 4 years.  Only downsides are that it gets very hot if not placed on the right surface.  Also the on/off switch is at the front of the laptop and is easy to catch with your thumb when dragging things with the touchpad turning it off.

:) Had one of these for almost a year - brilliant for the money! Replaced my desktop with ease. Gets hot on base running games after an hour or so but a laptop cooler sorts it out and makes it more comfortable on the lap. USB ports on rear are a drag but easy to live with. Light reliable and battery life has not decreased significantly. Quality system, shame about Windows 8 though - it sucks!

Ultra(Gaming)Book. Acer equips their Ultrabook with a 20.6 millimeter (0.81 inches) thick aluminum chassis and a Kepler GT640M GPU suitable for gaming. Does this combination work and do the temperatures remain within acceptable limits? Read our review to find out.
