Der amerikanische Chiphersteller Globalfoundries hat unter dem Namen 14nm-XM ein neuen Herstellungsprozess vorgestellt, der für mobile SoCs (System-on-a-Chip) gedacht ist. Durch die geringere Strukturbreite und die sogenannten FinFET-Transitoren soll eine um bis zu 60 Prozent längere Akkulaufzeit möglich werden.
