QuoteMeanwhile, a group of fans working on an Oblivion remake in the Skyrim engine have lent their support to the official remake. The fan remake started in 2012 with an expected release scheduled for this year.

Rebelzize wrote on X: "To be clear this changes nothing for me. This always was a passion project and still is until the end. For the community it's a win-win as you get twice the amount of Oblivion this year. All love and no hate towards the people who made the official remaster."

In my opinion this guy isn't totally honest: once the official Remaster is released, the Skyblivion-Mod will become a shadow. The graphics of the official Remaster look better than expected, and older leaks say that gameplay was also improved. So the Remaster basically delivers everything the Skyblivion-Mod wanted to do. And because the official Remaster will be finished earlier, it'll basically make the mod obsolete.
But it's not only that: the official Remaster will also take away all the glory and appreciation of the Skyblivion-Mod. All these years the eyes of the community were on the mod - which is also a big motivator to continue a project - and now suddenly Bethesda steps in and takes away all the spotlight and hype. You can't tell me that's not making them angry. Not even a little bit? And this guy is like "everything is fine"? Come on...

Microsoft and Bethesda are having a hard time keeping the Oblivion remaster under wraps. The game just keeps leaking, and the latest one comes from an unusual source: an Xbox support bot on X. In a recent exchange with a user, the bot seemingly touted an April 21 release date for the remaster.
