this text is a clickbait itself, I've seen several headlines at various world media on that potential price hike, and they went like this: iphone prices MAY rise to approx. $ 2300.
BUT, given the latest promise by the Man in the Oval Office, to introduced ANOTHER 50% tax / levy on Chinese goods as of 08/04/2025, unless China resigns their retaliatory tariffs, yeah, 3.5K for an iphone might happen in the end. OMG, how are the Yanks gonna live then?! :D

Seeing how Apple has been failing to deliver on software and that next iPhone back is questionable, what do most people need to upgrade for? 16s will be fine for a good while waiting to take full advantage of Apple Intelligence.

Maybe in America, but that hasn't happened in Australia for many years. You pay full price now, no subsidies.

Any way the USA getting smashed by the Agent Orange clown is most welcome. Burn it to the ground and start again.

People underestimate corporations ability to get around tariffs. The BOM of an $1000 iphone is about $400. You import it as such then do final assembly in US. They did same thing with cars where they import them without doors to avoid tariffs, then added them in US in final assembly.

Awesome use of "new math" in this article!!!

Wherein the author equates %40-50 to equal %350!!![/b]

An item costing $1000 getting a %50 increase would result in the item costing $1500.

An item costing $1000 costing 3.5x more would come in at $3500.00.

The tariffs recently imposed on vast numbers of countries and territories throughout the world by the second Trump administration, major tech and industry centers such as China and Taiwan included, have been received as a potentially significant threat to consumers in terms of the price of the goods that they buy - iPhones included, according to a new report.
