Yes a factory reset, after doing backup, reloading your apps, from all, install, windows store, got me, down to 58GB, with Windows 11 Pro 24H2 March 2025 cumulative update. On an 6+1/2 year old HP Elitedesk mini 800 i5 8th generation, with 32GB of lpddr4 RAM, Office 2024, Chrome, google apps, from Chrome. From 72GB, so the recent cumulative update, added 14GB, without a factory reset and reloading of the apps, 3 hours. I factory reset my Apple Mac mini M4, with a thunderbolt cable, fan assisted pcie5 stick, in half an hour, brought it down, from 70GB, to 46GB.

QuoteWhile Windows 11 had a rocky start, the latest OS by Microsoft is slowly picking up its pace by winning over users from Windows 10.

In fact, almost ALL of that gain comes from the simple fact that you cannot buy a PC with Win 10 on it anymore. That's not "winning over users" - that's holding them hostage and not giving them any say or options in the decision.

As well, utilities like Start11 allow those of us who hate the new Win11 UI/UX to bypass Microsoft - to a degree - and get back to something close to Win 10.

So cheering Win 11's mediocre "success" as winning over Win 10 users is both disingenuous and a wee bit insulting.

Excellent example of a good headline... The rest of the article was a waste of time.

While Windows 11 had a rocky start, the latest OS by Microsoft is slowly picking up its pace by winning over users from Windows 10. However, the company appears to be trying a little hard to make users switch to the latest operating system.
