Have the 9Pro. It is frustrating to unlock in no light. On the flip side tap to pay is much easier to unlock quickly than previous pixels.

Pixel 4a5g user here

I love the pixel experience I've had so far but been reluctant to upgrade ever since they moved the fingerprint sensor to be on-screen. I've heard of people having miserable experiences with unlock times for Pixels 6-8 but this newest generation looks to have changed that.

I am also a pretty heavy nighttime user, so the ultrasonic sensor not flashbanging me is a plus.

The upgrade to RAM is also very nice as I find that the 6GB on my current phone struggles to keep up with a lot of things I want to do.

It is also comical to me that the P9Pro has 4GB more RAM but like 3/4s of it is reserved for AI tasks.

The Single greatest advantage is the short update window in the Android world, and "clean" Android interface. Performance, cost, etc are all secondary.

That update window is absolutely vital for many concerned about security and/or latest and greatest.

OnePlus is decent cost/benefit, but their updates are slack and not a very good support policy.

Xiaomi and these Chinese brands, as mentioned, don't work so well in the U.S. market.

The Pixel 9/9 Pro is absolutely forgettable as a release. Not much going on from previous generations.

Obvious european bias against USA products. XIOAMI 14 is quoted as better?  These do not work in USA and profits go to destroying Ukraine

Aside from a flagship SoC, the compact Pixel 9 boasts an impressive update delivery timeframe as well as a super bright OLED panel. In this Notebookcheck review of the Pixel phone, you can find out whether it remains the camera benchmark for a smartphone below the 1000-dollar mark.
