The Single greatest advantage is the short update window in the Android world, and "clean" Android interface. Performance, cost, etc are all secondary.
That update window is absolutely vital for many concerned about security and/or latest and greatest.
OnePlus is decent cost/benefit, but their updates are slack and not a very good support policy.
Xiaomi and these Chinese brands, as mentioned, don't work so well in the U.S. market.
