Quote from: kamehameha on September 18, 2024, 19:52:31Guys, them cracking down on online cheaters has got nothing to do with their "fear" for a whopping amount of... 0 support tickets, since if it works on windows and not on linux it's on proton and Valve to fix the issue. Are you just going along with that the dumb masses say? What an absurd assumption.

real GTAO players are glad about this change, because modders were more common than human NPCs on the sidewalks.
Instead, get mad with AC companies that are still unwilling to support Linux.
BattlEye does have Linux support, and it can be enabled by fliping a switch from the developer side. It's just that Rockstar has decided not to flip that switch.
Except that BattlEye is userspace on Linux so it's extremely easy to work around it and cheat anyways and for this reason basically nobody enables it.
Proper Linux support, a DKMS module, is what's needed.

A whole nine years after launch, Rockstar Games seems to want to crack down on cheaters in GTA V, announcing that it has implemented BattleEye kernel anti-cheat for online play. GTA Online is no longer compatible with Linux or the Steam Deck, locking Linux gamers to single-player mode exclusively. This is despite multiple BattleEye games verified to run on Steam Deck via Proton.
