"Waiting for the next thing" is a bad idea any day. If you can wait then you should start asking yourself if you need it at all.

Just buy when you need it. Even M1Pro/Max still has plenty performance for tasks at hand.

M3 macs already have doubled ram, they have two base models now, 16Gb base isn't a custom model anymore.

True, but if the 'next one' is due in just a few weeks and is expected to boast significant improvements, I'd argue that's a different story.

Yep!

Quote from: ArsLoginName on September 13, 2024, 23:41:55Guess is base prices go up by $100 - which is still a 'deal' because normal price for memory upgrade is $200

Haha, maybe.

Quote from: davidm on September 14, 2024, 00:01:48I heard the new Macbooks will have a trackpoint (pointing stick) and lightweight magnesium case. This is what I've been waiting for.

Haha, alright.

It's Apple. Nothing is free. Guess is base prices go up by $100 - which is still a 'deal' because normal price for memory upgrade is $200.

Apple's upcoming MacBook Pro lineup with M4 Pro and M4 Max SoCs is likely to boast serious performance improvements owing to the increased demands of Apple Intelligence, even though any visual changes or OLED displays are unlikely. With the increased possibility of Apple doubling the RAM in its base variant Macs, the upcoming MacBook Pro might be the most bang for buck notebook from Apple in years.
