Waste of money. Just get either a normal desktop or a normal laptop.

it's roughly 4200 RMB / 580 US on Chinese sites - wonder why the markup is so high

was the benchmark done with external monitor plugged into eGPU or with laptop's internal display?

Did you connect an external monitor to the G1 using its HDMI or DP ports?
This unit performs a lot better if you connect the monitor to the G1 rather than to the PC. A LOT better!

I would buy something like that if Steam Deck could support it over USB-C.

Despite the lack of a dedicated ethernet port, is it still possible to connect to ethernet via an ethernet-to-USB adapter, using one of the USB-A ports at the back? If anyone has tried: does it work well / affect the bandwidth when the G1 is connected to the computer via a thunderbolt cable?

Many popular handhelds and mini-PCs have very limited 3D capabilities due to the fact they are only equipped with an iGPU. This is where GPD comes in with their G1 eGPU. A USB4 port or OcuLink interface is required to use this device. The GPD G1 features an AMD Radeon RX 7600M XT graphics card. We have extensively tested the device with both connection options and analysed its performance.
