I see it more of their internal validation and self worth is based on what they externally show to others. For many, showing this off gives a false sense of importance. It's sad to see, because on some level I can imagine the stress it takes to own and maintain really expensive equipment, as well as work high-wage jobs to carry on that show. For what? Internet bragging?
