There was no such thing as "3d tv fiasco". 3d tvs were "shadowbanned" in a behind the scenes deal with cinema producers/theaters, who felt a danger to their business, and tv producers. 3d was phased out and replaced with a more useless 4k, because you know "that's three and this one is FOUR".

Coincides with the rumor that Apple have abandoned a successor and are have pivoted to a low cost model. But being Apple their idea of low cost will still be over a thousand.

QuoteThe main stumbling block to the Vision Pro's sales appears to be applicability in users' lives.

Really? That's what you think is the main stumbling block for most users? Not the USD$3500 price tag, the total exclusive dependency of macOS which has 17% market share world side and the fact that it's not aimed at gaming and is heavy to wear with an outboard battery?

The average AR/VR customer can get a Quest 3 for USD$500... 1/7the price... and it works with everything, is lighter and can handle games either onboard or remote to PC.

I can't help thinking that might be the bigger reason the AVP is tanking.

Current projections from market research firm IDC point to fewer than 500,000 total sales for Apple's Vision Pro this year. Sales for the headset have cooled significantly in the US, although an international launch may reinvigorate retail movement.
