This is the way to go. Back in 2008 or so, when lcds started appearing, ViewSonic made amazing monitors. Hopefully they are still good at it.
Regardless, it's important that 4k becomes mainstream not only because of the level of detail that we miss otherwise, but also because of 2 other reasons:
- most devices are 4k capable nowadays: onboard gpus (laptop & desktop), cameras, telephones, etc. So having all that capability and filtering and chopping it down to HD is a total waste.
- gpu manufacturers need to be pushed so the technology finally evolves (more VRAM, faster buses, faster procesors, more cores) and the prices go down. Otherwise they will keep on going full retard into AI, gpus' $ will continue sky rocketing and we will go on paying fortunes for an 8 or 12GB gpu that's actually the same as 5 years ago but with a new sticker on it.
Not only gpu makers will be pushed, but the full chain, including providers of storage devices, internet, motherboards, USB, etc., etc. They have been too comfortable for decades. It's time for a change that benefits the end users.
