Hi everyone,

I'm reaching out because I'm facing a critical issue with our DAS (Direct Attached Storage) server that's severely impacting my work, and I'm in urgent need of some guidance.

Here's the situation: our DAS server has been functioning smoothly for the past few months, but suddenly, I'm encountering problems accessing the stored data. Specifically, the server intermittently fails to recognize connected drives, resulting in significant downtime and data inaccessibility.

Details of the issue:

1. Server Model: Dell PowerVault MD1220
2. Connected Drives: A mix of 1TB and 2TB SAS drives

3. Symptoms:
  • Drives sporadically disconnect and reconnect.
  • Occasional "Drive not found" errors during read/write operations.
  • Server logs show repeated I/O errors.

4. Troubleshooting Steps Taken:
  • Checked and reseated all cable connections.
  • Updated firmware and drivers for both the server and connected drives.
  • Ran diagnostics using Dell's support tools (no significant issues reported).
  • Verified that power supply units are functioning correctly.

This issue is causing major disruptions in our workflow, delaying projects, and getting me into trouble with deadlines. I'm not sure if it's a hardware failure, a configuration problem, or something else entirely.
