Unless SpaceX plans to spin off starlink business, I highly doubt they would do an IPO. The problem is that it would be impossible to get to Mars which SpaceX wants to do if they have to deal with the issues public companies deal with. Going to Mars is going to be a huge money sink for at least a decade. They'd just be better off selling bonds

"to pump up subscriber numbers prior to an IPO" so here's a tip: how about offering a half price plan, with only a tenth of the speed. (10 times the money off of the same bandwidth!)
I live in the boonies, there's nothing available out there. I've been looking pretty heavily at starlink, but it's just too much for my fixed income. What do I really need speed wise? 100 Mbps? I just want to watch some YouTube videos, maybe stream something from hulu or Amazon(Wi-Fi calling for my useless cell phone would be nice too). I can certainly do that with five Mbps, 10 would be gravy.

I'm sure that there are a ton of people in the United States that would be glad to sign up for something with similar stats for similar prices. But I'm just some guy, maybe somebody with a little bit more reach could suggest it to Elon.

SpaceX will be releasing a new, much cheaper compact Starlink Mini dish with integrated router that Elon Musk said will be half the price of the current $599 Standard Kit.
