Panasonic hat sein Toughbook CF-51 überarbeitet und erweitert die Reihe seiner Ruggedized-Notebooks um das CF-51 MK3 mit Intel Core Duo, Magnesium-Gehäuse und TPM-Chip für erhöhte Sicherheit. Es ist für Business-Anwender gedacht und die Festplatte soll Stürze aus 90 Zentimetern Höhe verkraften. Der integrierte TPM-Chip soll vor unbefugtem Zugriff durch sichere Authentisierung des Rechners beim Zugriff auf ein Firmennetz schützen. Der Chip ist auf der Systemplatine verlötet und lässt sich weder physikalisch noch mit Software verändern. Das Toughbook CF-51 MK3 ist ab September 2006 für 1800 Euro (+MwSt.) verfügbar.
