AMD CTO, Mark Papermaster, has teased AI upscaling for FidelityFX Super Resolution coming later in 2024. The current FSR 3 implementation uses a mix of temporal upscaling, frame generation, and latency-reduction technologies to achieve a result that's generally inferior to Nvidia's DLSS alternatives.
