these layoffs won't stop anytime soon, but it will keep going not just for sony or entertainment but on many industries. they can't raise prices because it will affect consumers. so, the easy solution unfortunately is to layoffs employees.
economy these days is not good in general.

Sony Interactive Entertainment announced it has laid off 900 people from its global workforce, or 8% of all employees worldwide. This includes the entirety of its London studio, which was largely focused on virtual reality titles.
