It is, not everyone goes out to vote on everything
I mean be aware this restriction is only on "out of town SUVs"
Would you show up for a vote that puts higher fees on those who live outside where you live?
to precise, the vote was only held in Paris ( where 2 million people lives, and let's say a bit more than 1Millions persons are registered on the electoral lists ) , and based on this more or less million, only 5% went to vote, and this mention only got approval by 55% ...
also, the measure doesn't really concerns people living in Paris, as residential parking will be exempted from the x3 parking tax, as well as professionnel use such as taxis, delivery, civil works ...
and as a last point, by some, even by the poorest if feels like a measure for the richest, who'd pay in any case the rare time they're parking on the street, their possible heavy and expensive SUV / Sedan or EVs.
also note that they advertised about SUVs, but it will apply to any ICE or HEV/PHEV above 1T6 and any EV above 2T
putting this to vote is democratic, however it doesn't feel democratic to base the application on the results, considering that 80% of the traffic in Paris comes from outside Paris, people who weren't allowed to vote on this.
