I can safely say now that Dell's naming/numbering scheme doesn't matter and doesn't indicate the quality one can expect from the hierarchy. I used to think for consumer line: 3000 series - budget/entry level 5000 - mid-range/mainstream 7000 - upper mid-range/ premium 9000 - high-end. Well the 9000 is XPS so that one stays true. The 3000 you can bet on the cheapness. But the Mid-range is always a wait and see what dell throws in or removes and swaps between the 5000 and 7000 series. In this case, this 7035 acts more like a 3000 imo with horrible screen and build with no options. 8gb soldered - really? If someone wanted a one time/purpose use laptop then the 3000 series should be for that. Dell should do away with the numbering system that is perceived to be hierarchical in quality
The Inspiron 14 7435 2-in-1 retails for half the price of many popular alternatives with 360-degree hinges. There are cut corners along the way, of course, but casual home users or students likely won't mind many of the missing features.
