Oppo has shuttered its custom silicon team, according to a Chinese news report. The news is said to have come as a shock to employees with the team continuing to advertise for new staff as recently as the past two weeks. Oppo had been developing custom MariSilicon image signal processors (ISPs) for its devices in an attempt to differentiate their phones from the competition, however it appears the company's management no longer believes the added cost is warranted.
