Intel is still stuck on 8 cores. The e cores are useless for anything other than low priority background tasks.

Intel is reportedly launching the Meteor Lake processors for laptops by October of this year while the desktop MTL-S CPUs could be slated for H1 2024. According to a slide recently shared by leaker Bionic_squash on Twitter, the desktop Intel MTL-S could only go up to Core i5 CPUs with the ARL-S Core i9 chips serving as the true top end.
