I've had an S22 for a little over 2 weeks now and yes, the battery life is absolutely terrible. To give you a precise idea, the average for me was 2.5 minutes per 1 percentage unit.
I had a Pixel 5 last year and the battery life on that thing was absolutely amazing. It completely changed the way I charged a phone.  I then upgraded to an iPhone 13 Pro for 4 months and the battery life was also impeccable. Not so different than the Pixel's as a matter of fact, despite the praises. But I hated iOS so I sold the phone and decided to preorder an S22. I love the phone. It looks good, it's well made and so on. The battery life though, bad. Google managed to fit a 4000mAh battery in a phone that's smaller than this S22 and Samsung couldn't. Very disappointing

I've had an S22 for almost a month now and yes, the battery life is absolutely terrible. To give you a precise idea, the average for me was 3.14 minutes per 1 percentage unit. I'd have to drop below 5% to hit the 5h SOT mark.

Received the S22 yesterday and set it all up, updating apps and such.  Today starting off from a 100% charge, from 6 am to 1pm, the battery was down to 11%, mixed use almost no streaming.  The screen was off most of the day.  Switch back to my S10E.  I'm thankful to verizon for letting me return it with no restock fee.

Before you go running with torches and pitchforks, the video specified they had the brightness of the Samsung's maxed
The 22 Ultra set a new record for peak nits, so it's no surprise at max brightness the battery doesn't appear to last long

I am so angry that they put such a small battery into S22.  >:( I'll wait for S23 or for some other brand to release a compact phone with better features. Shame on you Samsung!

OK - The S22 could have been
.2 thicker .

2 Tenths of an inch thicker !

Still a compact phone .

And had a 4200 MAH Battery.

Well no. You know why? Samsung wants to have slim phone like the IP13 & 13Pro and that is why we have S22 with thickness less than 8mm or to be precise less then 7.7mm. This is the only reason!  >:(

Well I don't know how did they check the battery time I was watching YouTube video . iPhone 13 Pro. s22 ultra . s21 ultra . battery comparison . s22 ultra fel behind s21 ultra and iPhone 13 Pro.  but battery time was 8hr 8min. where did you get this 5 hour  reading doesn't look legit
Read before you type. No one mentioned ultra anywhere.

A 5,000 mah battery would have been better!

I recently purchased this phone away on a trip replacing my A20 that had been damaged on my trip.
Not realising the new A22 does not come with NFC Technology, I wasn't able to make electronic payments to any store as I had no physical card either..
I think Samsung mucked this one up as my older model had NFC built in..
Lucky enough I had a Samsung Smart Watch which worked with this newer model..
Also the battery has been running out quickly compared to the A20.
Was a little  disappointed by these two things..
Just keep that in mind if purchasing this model phone..

Bring back Huawei the rightful King

this is because of several reasons:
- this years chips from qualcomm and samsung are made on the same shitty 4nm samsung process. they are HOT and inefficient;
- the s22 has a smaller battery than s21, 3700mah vs 4000mah. Looking at a disassembly video, it looks like samsung had a TON of space for battery, but they just, cut the prices, like they did with the missing charger and missing micro sd slot;
- the display is still not ltpo, that is, it cannot go down to 10hz, but only 48 hz. they initially said it is 10hz capable, but then retracted the spec because people have tested the actual phones.

Just watched a comparison video where the S22 ultra lasted with 8 hours and 18 minutes of screen on time with video and games being on the entire time. Pixel 6 lasted only 7 hours. And iPhone 13 max pro 10 hours.

All 'compact' phones usually have the worst battery life.

Maybe the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 isn't very power efficient. We need to compare with other smartphones using the same chip and having a similar battery capacity to verify if this is true.

A 6.1in medium sized phone with a 3700mah battery is beaten by a true compact 5.4in 2400mah battery iPhone 13 Mini. Compact is not an excuse, especially when it's a) not even compact and b) has a fairly large battery in comparison.
