Samsung, Apple, and now LG will be ramping up R&D on the potential applications and commercialization of MicroLED panels for portable devices. The technology may eventually spill over to laptops since its advantages over LCD and even OLED are numerous. LG is remaining tight-lipped on when we can expect to see the first smartphone utilizing MicroLED.
