Im vergangenen Jahr 2012 wurden laut den Marktforschern von IDC weltweit etwa 722 Millionen Smartphones ausgeliefert. Der Löwenanteil ging dabei auf das Konto von Smartphones mit Googles Android und iOS von Apple. Beide zusammen kommen auf 87,6 Prozent Marktanteil.
