The calm before the storm. October was a rather quiet month in the realm of smartphones and tablets. Were we just enjoying the calm before an impending device storm triggered by Windows 8? We would also have expected the new flagship releases from Apple, Google, and other companies by now. We did encounter a few true highlights - most notably the Samsung Galaxy Note II.
